MHK Songwriters is a community of songwriters that meet up monthly to connect and share songs! Songwriters of all backgrounds and experience are welcome! Monthly prompts given are not a requirement to follow, but a tool to help get you going.

October Prompt:
For this month we are going to use a recycled prompt. Find a photograph (could be on your phone or a displayed picture) what do you notice in the photo? What questions does the photo make you ask? zoom in on details in the picture to write about, you can write about a memory in the picture or create a story!

Meetup community guidelines:
Sharing a song can be a very vulnerable thing to do. The goal of this group is to connect, inspire and encourage songwriters of all backgrounds and experience in an inclusive, welcoming and safe environment. Here are some guidelines to follow.

• Keep feedback positive

• Constructive feedback or critiques should only be given when requested by the performer (keep any critiques specific, helpful, and kind)

• Try to keep feedback on topic and brief to help respect everyone’s time and to make sure everyone has a chance to share the song they prepared.

• Make sure to keep instruments quiet/muted while others are performing or sharing about their song.
