SWS Member Highlight: Event Answer

Event Answers livestreams a YouTube class demonstrating how to make giant balloon dogs. Check out their VOD on the balloon dogs.

Switch Wicked Studios has a wide range of creators who utilize the space. The studios were created with that potential in mind, set up in a way that allows for 2D and 3D artists. But as the studio has grown, creative people have found more than just a space to paint or sculpt. It has become a space for photo shoots, filming, or even livestreaming, accommodating a whole new group of creatives.

Switch Wicked Studios members Event Answer saw the space as a place where they could grow, or you could say inflate, their business.

Event Answer is a balloon design education business, utilizing the community studio space to film and create balloon designs. Event Answer makes tutorials, plans, and templates for DIYers and balloon professionals to easily and consistently make gorgeous balloon designs. They also create designs for local clients.

Morgan Biles, of Event Answer, shares how they make the most of Switch Wicked Studios.

Q: How are you using Switch Wicked Studios for your work?

A: We use Switch Wicked as our filming studio for a couple of hours each week. We needed a space larger than our living room to film in, but we don't need an entire studio for ourselves yet. Switch Wicked is the perfect next step for us. It gives us more space to create with quicker set-up times, in a cost-effective way for our business. Plus, it is so fun working downtown with the amazingly creative team at Switch Wicked.

Q: What made you want to use this space for filming and streaming?

A: I spent our first five years shooting every video in our living room, but I was limited by the size of the room. Using Switch Wicked Studios means I can film bigger projects in a shorter time frame since I don't have to rearrange an entire room to film.

Q: What does your typical setup or workflow look like here?

A: I usually come in the day before to prepare balloons for filming the next day. I store the balloons overnight at Switch Wicked in our private studio, which saves me from carting them back and forth in my vehicle. We typically film a video in an afternoon, with about 20 minutes for both setup and teardown of all the supplies and gear.

Q: What makes this space different from working at home?

A: I've worked from home for 6 years. Having a creative space to work outside my home studio helps me focus my creative energy and sets a work mindset while there. It is also wonderful to work amongst other creatives and have a sense of community while still accomplishing our own projects.

Event Answer will livestream YouTube classes in the studio space.
