Pushing Skate Culture Forward in MHK
Switch Wicked opened its skate section along with its retail storefront on October 1st, 2024 — built by and for skaters. We’re here to grow the scene, host community events, and push for better spaces, including a brand new skate park in Manhattan.
Skateboarding has always had a powerful impact on local culture, and we’re proud to support that momentum.
Our shop serves as a hub for the Manhattan skate community, and we’re actively fundraising toward the development of a new skatepark for the city.
We host regular events like Games of SKATE behind the shop, video nights, raffles, and more — bringing skaters and supporters together and further enriching the vibrant skateboarding scene in Manhattan.
Help Build MHK’s Next Skatepark
Switch Wicked is proud to support a $2 million fundraising initiative, led by the Manhattan Parks and Rec Foundation, to make this happen. The new park would serve skaters across the region and provide a much-needed upgrade to Manhattan’s recreational offerings. Community leaders, city officials, and local skaters are all pushing for this to become a priority — now we just need the funding to match.
With the former CiCo Park skate area being removed for city renovations, the features have been temporarily moved to City Park — but the ultimate goal is a permanent, in-ground and above-ground concrete skatepark built to last.
